Message from Pastor

Dear friends, welcome home!  One of the first things God said to Adam is, “It is not good for man to be alone.”  We know that is true and so I hope that you will find a family with us.  We are ready to take you in and we hope you will experience a warm welcome and acceptance among us.

I truly think of our church as a family of faith.  Family has always been important to me.  You may hear me refer to my mother quite often or my brother, and that is because they mean so much to me.  As a follower of Jesus, we are family, and I look forward to getting to know you if we are not already friends.  I value my relationship with you because God has put us in the same congregation of believers.  Feel free to share your thoughts and concerns with me as well as your joys and victories.  I look forward to that.

When I was asked to be the Pastor here, I suggested how we would function.  I said, “We are going to read God’s Word; understand it to the best of our ability; and we are going to seek to obey it.”  If that is what you want in a Pastor, then ask me to be the guy.  And, Well, here I am.

In order to grow as a family, I would really appreciate it if you would do a few things for me.

  1. Bring Your Bible: I am going to be encouraging our congregation to start bringing our own personal copies of the Scripture as we study each week in our corporate worship time. I hope you will get in the practice of looking into God’s Word with me each week.
  1. Invite Other To Join Us: I am hopeful that as you become acquainted with us you will invite your friends to come worship with us as well. Please introduce your friends directly to me so that I can welcome them and get to know them.
  1. Fill Out a “we care card”: Would you please fill out a welcome card so that we can be certain our records are accurate and we can contact you directly in the future? =
  1. Ask God How He Wants you to Serve Him: When the time is right, there will be many ways for you to serve here at FCC and in our community for Christ. I will do everything I can to help you find that right place of service.  You are welcome to participate wherever God directs you to serve.  If you have questions about that or need assistance, again, I am here to help.

Our mission is to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, and we have this vision:  “We are going to love people, tell the truth, serve God, and join Him in changing the world. “ I don’t know about you, but I want to be part of this little church in Venice, Florida that has a part in changing the world.  Come and join us on this adventure of faith.

In His grace,

Dr. Phil Schmunk
Lead Pastor, First Christian Church
